An American in the Canadian Forces?
I looked at the website, It says that I’d first have to have a permanent resident card,which I’m working on now whether or not the military would be open to me, and be granted a “citizenship waiver” by the CFRG(Canadian Forces Recruiting Group). But I wonder how likely receiving the waiver could be, and does it happen often? I noticed that recruitment age is up to 55 for Canadian Military, and I can easily pass the physical fitness test for my age (45). I have alot of electronics experience and the army has a job (LCIS Tech) that seems perfect for me.
One other thing to inquire about, does the “citizenship waiver” have a limit on the amount of time you can serve before you would have to become a Canadian citizen? Some places put a time limit on non-citizen soldiers, they have to choose.
Otherwise, I have worked with Canadian Army soldiers with NATO, it was a blast. They seem a little more career oriented and the ones I knew where genuinely great people.
